Ustadha Fouzia Butt

Fouzia Butt studied Tajweed in Damascus, Syria and earned her ijaza in 2002 from the late Shaykh Hassan al Kurdi. She completed her degree in Arabic from SOAS in 2003 and since then has been working in the field of education, completing her GTP in primary education in 2005. She has a particular interest in alternative educational models and has completed a diploma in Montessori education and several short courses in Steiner Education. Since 2009 Fouzia has been involved in setting up the first Muslim girls secondary school (Lady Nafisa School) in Hounslow. She is currently on maternity leave and is returning to the post as Headteacher in September 2014 inshallah.

Over the years Fouzia has had the opportunity to study many of the major Islamic Sciences in Damascus, Fez and the UK with many notable teachers. She is continuing her studies with Anse Tamara Gray and continues to teach Tajweed privately.

Fouzia is married, lives in Hounslow and has two sons.
